Understanding entry requirements
What conditional and unconditional offers mean, and how to read a requirement.
Entry requirements are set by the university, not by us. They describe the minimum evidence a university needs before it will consider your application.
Academic requirements
Usually expressed as grades in a named qualification. Where your qualification is from outside the UK, the university compares it against its own equivalency guidance.
English language requirements
Often expressed as an overall test score plus minimum scores in each component. Meeting the overall score but missing one component is a common reason an application is delayed.
Conditional and unconditional offers
A conditional offer means the university will confirm your place once you meet the stated conditions. An unconditional offer means no further academic conditions remain, though administrative steps such as fee deposits may still apply.
If you do not meet a requirement
There may be alternatives, such as a foundation or pre-masters route, or a different intake. An adviser can talk through realistic options with you, but cannot guarantee any outcome.
